For April’s First Thursday, we’re stepping into one of Walchwil’s proud traditions — a uniquely Swiss cultural experience.
We’ve been invited by the historic Militärschiessverein Walchwil (Military Shooting Club) to their shooting house Büel, perched on the hill between Sagenbrücke and Oberdorfstrasse:

This insider location offers not only stunning views but also a direct connection to a deeply rooted Swiss tradition.
Target shooting in Switzerland is more than a pastime — it reflects discipline, responsibility, and community. Unlike other notions of “gun culture,” the Swiss approach emphasizes sport, safety, and camaraderie.
During the evening, we will:
• Learn about the local shooting association
• Try classic match air rifles (air-powered pellets – no bullets, in a safe, guided setting)
• Experience another authentic Walchwil institution
Date: Thursday, April 2
Time: 19:30
Parking is limited, and the access road is narrow and steep in both directions. If driving, we recommend parking and walking. There are a few spaces available here:
