On the first Thursday of May, members gathered for a memorable evening on the Walchwilerberg for a guided wildlife and hunting safari led by one of Walchwil’s most experienced local hunters. As daylight slowly faded, the group set out along forest edges and open meadows to explore the rich wildlife that inhabits the area.
Throughout the walk, participants gained fascinating insights into local animal behavior, traditional hunting practices, and the delicate balance between wildlife conservation and game management. Our guide shared stories from years spent observing the forests around Walchwil and explained how animals move through the landscape during the quieter evening hours.
The Walchwilerberg is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including foxes, roe deer, and wild boars. With patience and a bit of luck, several animals were spotted as they emerged from the woods at dusk, creating a truly special experience for everyone involved.
Following the safari, the group returned to Buschenchappeli, where grilled wild game sausages and good conversation provided the perfect ending to the evening. Equipped with binoculars, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate clothing, participants enjoyed not only an educational excursion, but also an opportunity to connect with nature and each other in the beautiful surroundings above Walchwil.
